She took over at a difficult time for the organisation, after the council declared itself bankrupt in September 2023. </p><p>Joanne is on a mission to rebuild and transform the city, and brings years of experience to the role. From her career in football, playing for England under 18’s, to being the first female boxer to win a Commonwealth title, she’s been breaking down barriers throughout her life. </p><p>After facing numerous examples of gender stereotyping, Stacey set up the charity Pave the Way, to help other people who might be facing the same battles.
