It’s an eery time…and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to hop on my flight and leave New York. Is it Y2K ? Is the world ending? Does this mean we still have to pay bills? Brendan and I sloppily explain why the CrowdStrike outage happened, then we cut to Hulk-a-mania at the RNC! So much to unpack and it’s giving reality tv a true run for their money. We have our own theories and none of them you should take seriously, because we’re just two 30 somethings who are trying to do our laundry and maybe enjoy a seafood tower and a few dirty martinis at Happy Hour. It’s a confusing time, the plot is thickening and we just want to know if we’re still going to be able to say Hell yeah, Brother!? P.S. This episode was recorded before Kamala Harris became the Presidential Democratic nominee, if you haven’t caught that!

We move off the reality TV episode that is American politics and discuss what we get our parents and the adults in our lives for gifts. What do you get people who have everything they need? We are at the age where if we really want something, we buy it. Gift giving in 30 Pause can be a little tricky, and we both agree- experiences over material things.

I share how I plan to live out the rest of the year now that I’m able to, and doing so authentically as possible. My time in New York with Brendan, my Friendan was unforgettable and I can’t wait to come back. As always thank you for listening & reading.

For more information about 30 Pause or to contact Heather please visit www.30pause.com & be sure to follow Brendan Daugherty @brooklynbrendan on IG and @30pause on all Social Platforms.

Thanks for tuning into 30 Pause on Substack!
In this episode I am at 90% health/homostasis and I hope you can all hear it in my voice. I had a lot of catching up for lost time in New York so once I was back to myself again, I was ready for a full weekend agenda. Brendan shares his Tacky 30 Pause moment and in true ADHD millennial fashion we zip zap zop through our weekend activities while reminiscing 90s country music. And we got a surprise visit from the ghost of Jimmy Buffett so recording this episode was full of surprises and giggles.

If you’re ever in New York take a minimum 2 hour walk through Central Park, it’s an absolute must! Brendan and I saw a wedding, a proposal and took fire pics for gram within the first hour we were there. We stumbled upon the Manhattan Henge which was pure kismet, and stopped at a couple of fabulous restaurants. We capped our weekend with great company and a laugh out loud funny AF Off-Broadway theatre production -Titanique. It honestly was one of the best weekends and I’ll never forget it and I’m so glad to share it all with my 30 Pausers.

As always thanks for listening. Please share this episode and enjoy :)

For more information about 30 Pause or to contact Heather please visit www.30pause.com & be sure to follow Brendan Daugherty @brooklynbrendan on IG and @30pause on all Social Platforms.

Thanks for tuning into 30 Pause on Substack!
Brendan and I have been friends for 16 years. Our friendship can legally drive. For the first 10/15 minutes of the show, we babble like besties do. After we’ve get our snackies and drinkies together, and hype each other up on our physical traits because that’s one of our favorite past times, we get right into what’s the best NYC hacks, tips, and tricks. I talk about my Love/Hate relationship with New York and I think anyone who spends enough time in the city will also have the same sentiment when it comes to the Big Apple. From $19 mediocre breakfast sammies to finding the best Bodega bacon egg and cheese-New York will make you live in the present. I dive into some culture shocks (29:00) when it comes to Brooklyn and how many white people cosplay poor and homely. You truly never know who they are because they could very well own multiple Manhattan properties and a tech firm. It’s really a wild experience to witness but hey to each their own, because that’s New York for ya. Also stinky people in the heat of the summer is OFFENSIVE! And that’s a not a judgement, it’s a fact. Brendan shares his NYC hacks (40:00) and they are important-so listen up, buttercups.

Enjoy a break from your reality with us two unhinged 30 somethings and our take on New York City/Brooklyn living. I wrap the episode up with understanding that new spaces and places heed and instill more confidence within ourselves. New York reminded me that I have all the tools and capabilities. In 30 Pause we experience more, and when you experience more you gain more confidence, and trust within ourselves. And thats a real #30pause flex.

Follow my amazing Producer of this episode and BFF here. And you can listen to his music here! As always thank for listening and supporting.
