<p>Janet & Joe blush their way through this episode where they talk about the benefits of sex and intimacy after 60, and how to help insure they continue in your later years.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Show Notes:</strong></p><p>A 2018 National Poll on Healthy Aging found that 40% of adults aged 65 to 80 are sexually active, and 73% of them reported being satisfied with their sex lives. <a href="https://www.verywellhealth.com/sex-after-sixty-2966815?utm_source=chatgpt.com"><u>https://www.verywellhealth.com/sex-after-sixty-2966815</u></a></p><p>Despite the myth that sex becomes less enjoyable with age, people in their later years have noticed considerable improvements in their sex lives since the 1970s, with research published by the University of Gothenburg revealing that 60 per cent of women and 70 per cent of men over 70 are highly satisfied with their sex lives. <a href="https://gupea.ub.gu.se/handle/2077/37524"><u>https://gupea.ub.gu.se/handle/2077/37524</u></a> </p><p>A study published in the American Journal of Medicine found that only 25% of younger women reported being sexually content. <a href="https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(11)00655-3/fulltext"><u>https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(11)00655-3/fulltext</u></a> </p><p>According to the National Institute on Aging, many older adults continue to enjoy sexual activity, although they might modify their sexual activity due to physiological changes, and that sexual activity is an important part of health and wellbeing and correlates with greater enjoyment of life for older adults. <a href="https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanhl/article/PIIS2666-7568%2823%2900003-X/fulltext?utm_source=chatgpt.com"><u>https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanhl/article/PIIS2666-7568%2823%2900003-X/fulltext</u></a></p><p>A 2019 study in the journal PLoS One found that sexual satisfaction in males was linked to a greater life enjoyment score. For females, the emotional intimacy of sex was linked to higher scores. <a href="https://www.verywellhealth.com/sex-after-sixty-2966815?utm_source=chatgpt.com"><u>https://www.verywellhealth.com/sex-after-sixty-2966815</u></a></p><p>A University of Michigan study found 76 per cent of older people thought sex was an important part of a relationship at any age.
