<p>Shalini and JoAnn discuss billionaire Ken Griffin and Boston Billionaires Rob and Karen Hale giving away $52 Million to charities. JoAnn talks about how Hollywood's sexual nepotism is still at play at Team Coco. Shalini discusses the problem with getting a college degree involving technology in today's world. </p> <p>SHALINI KARNANI: After graduating college, Shalini (aka Shelly Kay or Shelly Shel) began her decade long journey as an am/fm radio broadcaster. From Top 40 to Hip Hop stations in Chicago to Lite Rock and NewsTalk stations in markets throughout the Midwest, Shalini has hosted morning shows, midday shows, weekend club mixes and has worked as a sales associate and music director. Shalini went on to work with the Small Business Administration in Washington DC and earn a MA in Digital Arts. In 2013 she and her husband opened an award winning comic book and gaming shop in Brighton, Michigan which they later sold. Shalini earned certification as a children’s music teacher, teaching music and movement classes in schools and libraries throughout Pinellas county, Florida. Shalini now lives in Palms Springs, California with her husband and son.</p> <p>JOANN GENETTE: Beginning her radio career in the early 1990s, when reel-to-reel editing was done with razor & tape, JoAnn spent the majority of her professional career writing and delivering news updates for stations throughout Chicagoland. (WBBM, WLS-AM) “I think I’ve worked just about everywhere.” says Genette. “radio is in my veins.” JoAnn has co-hosted numerous radio morning shows (93.9 WLIT, 95.9 WERV, 103.1 WXXY) but is probably best known for her 7 year stint as the morning news anchor at WKSC 103 .5 KISS FM in Chicago.</p> <p>After moving to Santa Clarita, CA in 2019, JoAnn hosted Today in Rock History features and created her own 30-minute program HERstory in Rock Music spotlighting women musical artists for 97.5 FM K-HUG. She enjoys carnivals, amusement parks, and live entertainment, describing herself as an extrovert.
