<p>Hi Dads!! Welcome to Dad's Therapy Toolbox!!</p> <p>I'm your host Stephanie Buckley- A mom and therapist. This podcast was created to support dads and provide content from a mother's perspecitve as well as a therapist's POV! </p> <p>Here are some questions to ask your children instead of the ole stand by! How was your day? How was school? You get it!</p> <p>These answers are going to change as they get older and they are introduced to new adventures, expericences and to others. I encourage you to write down your answers ahead of time and see if they match up. Encourage them to ask you these questions and add more! There's so much to continue to learn about one another!</p> <p>These questions can be asked to your children of all ages. Some of these answers are going to change. For example, our son's two favorite books when he was younger was If You Give a Pig a Pancake and If You GIve a Mouse a Cookie! If you asked him today it would be Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. </p> <p>1. What’s your child’s top 3 favorite desserts?<br /> 2. What’s your child’s favorite scent? <br /> 3. Favorite flower? <br /> 4. What’s your child’s top 3 favorite fruits. <br /> 5. What’s your child’s all time favorite movie? <br /> 6. Name 3 of your child’s closest friends <br /> 7. Favorite book<br /> 8. Favorite song <br /> 9. Favorite color <br /> 10. Favorite cartoon</p> <p>For teenagers and young adults- You could also ask these questions to your youger children and encourage your children to ask these questions to you!!</p> <p>1. What's your favorite way to spend a free afternoon?<br /> 2. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?<br /> 3. What's a hobby or activity that you're really passionate about?<br /> 4. Do you have a favorite book or movie that you could talk about for hours?<br /> 5. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?<br /> 6. What kind of music or artists do you enjoy listening to?<br /> 7. Are there any goals or dreams you're currently working towards?<br /> 8. How would you describe your perfect day?<br /> 9. If you could meet any historical figure, who would it be and why?<br /> 10. In today's episode I go over chores and what are good for!!</p> <p>Introduce chores into your child's life and making the a part of their daily routine as early as possible!! </p> <p>For young chidren:</p> <p class="p1">In essence, early exposure to chores is a holistic approach to child development, nurturing responsibility, teamwork, practical skills, and self-confidence, all of which contribute to a well-rounded and capable individual.</p> <p class="p1">For Teenagers:</p> <p>**Time Management Skills:** Adolescents often have increasingly busy schedules with school, extracurricular activities, and social commitments. Doing chores teaches them how to manage their time effectively, fostering skills that are crucial for balancing various responsibilities.</p> <p class="p1">.**Work Ethic:** Chores instill a strong work ethic in teenagers. Understanding the value of hard work and commitment prepares them for future academic and professional endeavors, helping them approach tasks with dedication and perseverance.</p> <p class="p1"> **Financial Responsibility:** Some chores may involve budgeting and financial aspects, such as grocery shopping or managing household expenses. By participating in these tasks, teenagers gain practical knowledge about financial responsibility, which is a crucial skill as they transition into adulthood.</p> <p><br /> **Conflict Resolution:** Shared responsibilities within a family often require negotiation and cooperation. Teenagers learn valuable skills in communication and conflict resolution when coordinating tasks with siblings or other family members, contributing to their ability to navigate social relationships.</p> <p> **Independence and Life Skills:** Continuing to do chores during adolescence ensures that teenagers are well-equipped with practical life skills. From cooking and cleaning to basic home maintenance, these skills set the foundation for independent living when they eventually move out on their own.</p> <p> **Appreciation for Contribution:** Teenagers who actively participate in household chores develop a sense of ownership and pride in contributing to their family.
