Today on Dad Talks, we're joined by Sean Lowrie, a remarkable individual who has dedicated his life to his family, to humanitarian aid and climate action. Sean lives in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with his wife and 2 boys. In this episode we talk a lot about supporting our families to find and pursue their passions and how many benefits are realized for the whole family as a result. Sean's career spans over three decades, beginning as a volunteer in a local charity in Eswatini. He has worked through major conflict and refugee crises of the 1990s, moving on to headquarters roles in Ottawa and then Europe. Sean spent 22 years in London, specializing in system-influencing initiatives, including work with the UN, academia, consulting, and creating and leading the Start Network for nine years. His leadership helped grow the Start Network from 15 UK NGOs to 42 members across 15 countries, securing over $200 million for humanitarian crisis work in more than 50 countries. After the pandemic, Sean and his family moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he now serves as Head of External Affairs at Arca, a company dedicated to removing excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Sean continues to influence positive change, leveraging his extensive experience in public affairs and strategic development to contribute to the climate struggle. Sean holds a BSc in Applied Science from Queen's University and has studied social sciences at King’s College London. He is also an author and mentor, contributing to the entrepreneurship@UBC program. Please join me in welcoming Sean Lowrie to Dad Talks!

On this week's Live show, I talk to my sister-in-law, Jenna Kozan. She's a wife, mother, and photographer, and brings a unique blend of creativity and warmth to everything she does. With a Master’s in Social Work and 18 years of experience working directly alongside kids who've had some of the hardest upbringings in the country, Jenna is dedicated to fostering emotional safety and building strong, supportive relationships through humor, out of the box ideas, and compassion. Her trauma-informed approach and innovative methods help her connect deeply with those she works with. Always approachable and eager to learn from others, she thrives on bringing fresh, effective ideas and coping skills to the table.
