Genau genommen ist FREE FOR ALL von Patrick Horvath keine wirklich aktuelle Veröffentlichung. Schon vor Hovarths Indie-Hit BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES geschaffen hat der Erfolg von eben jenem FREE FOR ALL einen zweiten Frühling beschert. Zunächst als Crowdfunding-Kampagne und aktuell – und damit dann doch irgendwie ein Kandidat für die Schnelldiagnose - als reguläre Verlagsveröffentlichung via Oni Press. Ob das Setting der Satire eher Dystopie oder doch Utopie ist, sind sich Björn und Thorsten nicht so sicher. Macht euch selbst ein Bild. Larsen. Lee. McFarlane. Valentino, Silvestri und sogar Portacio. Wir hatten sie fast alle. Nur einer fehlt noch. Der sicher kontroverseste aller Image-Gründer: Rob Liefeld. Streitigkeiten mit Kollegen. Unerfüllte Kickstarter. Eine berüchtigte Captain America-Zeichnung. Und Füße. Immer wieder Füße. Auf der anderen Seite Deadpool-Co-Creator. Gebrochene Verkaufsrekorde. Und Youngblood. Letzteres war Liefeld Starttitel nach der Gründung von Image und der erste Image-Titel überhaupt, was der Superheldentruppe auf jeden Fall einen Platz in der Comic-Historie sichert. Ob mehr dran ist, schauen wir uns an. Gelesen wurde Youngblood Vol1 #1-10 (und jeweils ein Teil Youngblood:Strikefile, Team Youngblood und hier und da noch mehr). Erschienen bei Image Comics. DC versucht es mal wieder mit der Magierin ZATANNA. Einem recht beliebten Character, der es trotzdem nie über C- bis D-List hinausgebracht, und es daher mit eigenen Serien schwer hat. Daher geht der Verlag auf Nummer sicher und startet mit einer 6-teiligen Miniserie, experimentiert aber an anderer Stelle. Jamal Campbell, bislang vorwiegend als Zeichner bekannt, besetzt hier ebenfalls den Posten des Schreibers. Ob das was wird, oder es am Ende heißt SAD RAW LOHW STHCIN, schauen sich Björn und Thorsten in der Schnelldiagnose der Ausgabe #1 an. Gelesen wurde die US Ausgabe von ZATANNA #1 (2025) von DC Comics.
