美国总统特朗普在当地时间2月10日宣布，对所有进口钢铁和铝产品征收25%的关税，特朗普政府还在美国东部时间4月3日凌晨（日本时间3日下午），开始对进口汽车征收25%的追加关税，美国总统特朗普4月2日在白宫演讲时宣布，美国将基于与其他国家的贸易关系实施“对等关税”措施，并计划对日本征收24%的对等关税，虽然这一关税措施对一些国家暂停90天，但是仍有10%的此项关税按计划执行。
