<p>Goals. How do we set healthy goals with our kids and families that can be God Honoring? We are in the season in the world that everyone has new goals to kick off their year. Some think this is a bad attempt because researchers have found only about 9% of the new years resolution goals are completed. It is also found that 23% of them fail after a week on and at the end of January 43% quit on them. The odds are not in our favor to complete any of them. Are Goals God honoring? If they are, how do we lead our family in these sorts of challenges as parents?<br></p> <p><br></p>

<p><strong>The word “Shalom” when used as a verb means “Make Complete or Restore”. So when we look at “Shalom: God’s Peace” we are looking into what it means to restore the peace in our lives through the Holy Spirit. November-December quite often is some of the busiest times of the year for people. You are searching for presents, planning family gatherings, and getting to all the Christmas pageants. How in a time like this can we look to restore or make anything complete. This month we look at what this could mean for us, as well as how we can pass that to our kids. </strong></p> <p><br></p> <p><strong>Devotionals </strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>The Biggest Story by Kevin Deyoung: </strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Biggest-Story-Crusher-Brings-Garden/dp/1433542447/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ITCB1MZJUT9K&keywords=the+biggest+story+kevin+deyoung&qid=1703176930&sprefix=the+biggest+story+kevin%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>LINK</strong></a></li> </ul> <ul> <li><strong>How To See God: A Four Week Guide for Teenagers: </strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/How-See-God-Guide-Teenagers/dp/1635702003/ref=sr_1_1?crid=F1NYJ1QGJMHC&keywords=how+to+see+god&qid=1703113461&sprefix=how+to+%2Caps%2C900&sr=8-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>LINK</strong></a></li> <li><strong>The Family Bible Devotional: Stories for the Bible to Help Kids and parents engage and Love scripture: </strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Family-Bible-Devotional-Stories-Scripture-ebook/dp/B07GC4QR1H/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=devotional+for+family&qid=1703113626&s=digital-text&sr=1-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>LINK</strong></a></li> <li><strong>One Year of Dinner Table Devotions and Discussion Starters: A Daily Family Devotional with 365 Opportunities to Grow Closer to God as a Family: </strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dinner-Table-Devotions-Discussion-Starters/dp/1414318952/ref=asc_df_1414318952/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312721411869&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7224127299298798278&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016182&hvtargid=pla-450089703984&psc=1&mcid=ee0b826d844f3c0882898f2c24b95a02&gclid=CjwKCAiAvoqsBhB9EiwA9XTWGRLhI3I4iyL7m-ZySLkBSsI2eaJgJ4yoGhMqFob0ckDHRMT37PhGVBoCO5AQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>LINK</strong></a></li> <li><strong>God's Great Story: A Daily Devotional for Teens: </strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Gods-Great-Story-Daily-Devotional/dp/1433590336/ref=asc_df_1433590336/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=675747125165&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7224127299298798278&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016182&hvtargid=pla-2249313487181&psc=1&mcid=fdb75a8d3a5535c693adca2558dfa6fe" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>LINK</strong></a></li> <li><strong>Building a Family of Faith: Simple and Fun Devotions to Draw You Close to Each Other and Nearer to God</strong>: <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Building-Family-Faith-Simple-Devotions/dp/0310366127/ref=asc_df_0310366127/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=675638846760&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7224127299298798278&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016182&hvtargid=pla-2246882465751&psc=1&mcid=eafcc6219bb63ca2be42dde2cc5c5304" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer">LINK</a></li> <li><strong>The Whole Story for the Whole Family: A Year of Jesus-Centered Family:</strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Whole-Story-Family-Jesus-Centered-Devotions/dp/1087712963/ref=asc_df_1087712963/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=509362509069&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7224127299298798278&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016182&hvtargid=pla-1298790093798&psc=1&mcid=1ba66a4902ff3877bd2798203b22a192&gclid=CjwKCAiAvoqsBhB9EiwA9XTWGXGCR22AtumpuuvprWAn9atCjoYrYXG59-LKPHlag5RgdRpp95iFexoCY0EQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong> LINK</strong></a></li> <li><strong>Deep Roots: A Family Devotional for Kids, Teens and Parents to Encourage Prayer, Faith, and Family Bible Study: </strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Deep-Roots-Devotional-Parents-Encourage/dp/195284262X/ref=asc_df_195284262X/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=598360918292&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7224127299298798278&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016182&hvtargid=pla-1663798227358&psc=1&mcid=74eeccefa9bd3a8b85775dd8cebf78d7&gclid=CjwKCAiAvoqsBhB9EiwA9XTWGcq0JmhuHLJJ5aZVw_xVtwDr9pC1GpmNj31V47U4zk_bZ1aZ-DXGIBoCK30QAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>LINK</strong></a></li> </ul>

<p>Difficult conversations can be... well... Difficult. Many times our human tendency is to shy away from conversations that are truthful, but awkward. We don’t want people to look at us differently because of a conversation that we had with them. How do we have these same conversations with our kids? Are their tips and tricks that are helpful for kicking these off? How do I know what to say on any given topic? How do I make sure my children understand what I am saying and not hate me for doing that? Join us as we walk through this idea.</p>
