"How are labs digitizing to ensure their workflows (and water flows) are always on the move? Kailyn, or Kai, Regidor is a Field Service Engineer working with the Milli-Q® Lab Water Solutions portfolio based in Atlanta, Georgia. In this episode, Kai illustrates the impact of digitizing lab water. She explains how connecting key systems and instruments to the cloud benefits both lab staff and engineers. Kai shares an example of a clinical lab that received a system alert due to low water resistivity and how she were able to remotely fix the problem immediately, saving time and money. In our Troubled Waters segment, Flora Bui, a technical marketing manager from Guyancourt, France tells us how she helped a Dubai lab solve low phosphate detection by recommending a new cleaning agent. "How can labs operate more sustainably? Reducing the environmental impact of a lab is no small feat: Single-use plastics, toxic chemicals, or the use of high heat, water and energy are daily occurrences. More sustainable options are limited, and advancements that can help labs go greener are much sought after. In this episode, our guests (Jorge Nicolas from Santander, Spain and Gourab Ghosh based in Bangalore, India) provide examples of institutions that have made changes to their lab water supply to become more sustainable. Jorge explains how a hospital significantly reduced plastic use by moving away from bottled water, and Gourab tells us how a milk manufacturer is saving water and energy by changing their distillation setup. In our Troubled Waters segment, Joe Plurad in Boston tells us about an eye-opening run-in he had with a PhD student who almost lost her genetically engineered mouse line due to a suspected contamination in her bottled water. "Pure and ultrapure water are needed in some surprising locations all around the world. In this episode, your host Monica Joch takes you from the chilly Antarctic and to some sunny amusement parks. Karen McCardell, a Sales Specialist in Australia, describes how the Australian Antarctic Division uses ultrapure water to research climate change. Then JP Woodson, an Applications Specialist based in Florida, tells us how major theme parks use purified water to care for animals and plants. In our Troubled Waters segment, Bruce Herzig, a Technical Service Scientist in the US, tells us how one customer was haunted by ghost peaks in their LC-MS chromatograms, and how a simple solution solved the problem.
