On occasion, we'll talk with someone in the rental industry in a way that doesn't quite fit in with our other podcast themes. Those episodes will end up hosted here, in our "Odds & Ends" feed. So if you're up for an occasional podcast out of left field, you'll find it here!

A couple of months ago, we traveled to Morton, Illinois to visit Brad Kniep and his team to check out their recently-installed drive-through rental counter (check out our YouTube channel for more on that soon). While we were there, I talked with Brad about a few new evolutions in his rental experience and asked for some lessons learned from the processes.

He recently:

Upgraded his software from Expert to Elite

Added Point of Rental One

Reorganized his businesses from two general rental businesses in different cities to industry-centric ones based out of one location

Merged with an event rental business

So he has a lot of thoughts on navigating change and what worked well for him, what didn't work well, and some tips on how best to handle it. Hopefully they're helpful for you. If you'd like to check out Elite, visit pointofrental.com/book-a-demo and fill out a form.

On 6 May in South Africa, Pointers went on their first brick-building visit for Door of Hope. Door of Hope is a local organisation that provides care for abandoned children. They’re looking to expand their operations by building 70 houses for abandoned children that can’t be (or aren’t) adopted, giving them a chance to start adulthood on the right track.

Each brick-making session produces roughly 400 bricks, which is nearly 1/10 of what’s required for a single house; the project is expected to take several years, but our South African team is looking forward to being a part of the progress.

Bernice Smith talked to Brian about the experience in this episode; if you’d like to help Door of Hope and the South African team build more houses - via donation or by helping build bricks - contact our South African office for corporate donations. and visit here to donate individually (South Africa | International).
