Disclaimer - I am not an expert when it comes to evacuation. While I have evacuated several times and found the things discussed in this episode to be useful, I urge you to discuss what would work best for you and your horse with your trainer, barn owner, barn manager, or anyone you feel is best to go to for guidance. CalFire, LAFD, SDFD are several resources you can also check out for more information on how to prepare for a wildfire.

Below are the time stamps for those who would like to find specific segments in this episode.

0:00 - Intro & My First Time Evacuating

I discuss my first time evacuating with horses in 2007 during the Witch Creek Fire in San Diego and why my experience being so unprepared led to creating an evacuation plan that worked best for me and the horses I was responsible for.

15:20 - Evacuation Plan

This is the evacuation plan that I created. In no particular order I will go over the steps that we took for future evacuations after learning how unprepared I was during the Witch Creek Fire.

25:35 - Evacuation Kit

I go over the list that I created for the kit that you can make for each horse you own or each horse that is in your program. It will contain the necessary items you need for your horse to prepare them for evacuating in an ideal and in a last minute emergency situation along with the items needed to claim your horse at the evacuation site.

We will be back with a new episode on Monday!

Give us a bit of grace; we're rusty after a brief hiatus, but we’re so excited to be back. In this episode, Mavis has an exciting announcement, Bethany rescued some dogs, and Gabbi is no longer homeless. So that means one of us is doing normal adult things. We also discuss the show mileage rule that USEF continues to enforce when they see fit, a possible solution to avoiding the repercussions of viral videos that paint our sport in a bad light, the Pony Finals debacle, and a non-equestrian AITA about dry weddings.

A bit of a short episode today, the girls played Would You Rather: Equestrian Edition and answered an AITA where a working student is decided to say "no" to her boss.
