<p>‘Networking’ is a word to strike fear into the heart of any developer, and upsettingly we’re dealing with both types this episodes: talking to other humans at conferences, but mostly trying to coax computers to talk to each other too.</p><p>Plus, our Open Ballot this episode is the trifling little matter of the major changes you’re hoping to see in Xcode, SwiftUI, SwiftData and more as WWDC25 rolls around.</p><p><strong>Essential links from the episode:</strong></p><ul><li>Apple Intelligence delay</li><li>Original announcement: <a href="https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/apple_is_delaying_the_more_personalized_siri_apple_intelligence_features">https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/apple_is_delaying_the_more_personalized_siri_apple_intelligence_features</a><ul><li>Gruber’s rant: <a href="https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/apple_is_delaying_the_more_personalized_siri_apple_intelligence_features">https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/something_is_rotten_in_the_state_of_cupertino</a></li><li>Apple introduces age-checking systems <a href="https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/apple_is_delaying_the_more_personalized_siri_apple_intelligence_features">https://techcrunch.com/2025/02/27/apple-introduces-new-child-safety-initiatives-including-an-age-checking-system-for-apps/</a></li></ul></li><li>Testing Workgroup <a href="https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/apple_is_delaying_the_more_personalized_siri_apple_intelligence_features">https://www.swift.org/testing-workgroup/</a></li><p><br></p></ul><p><strong>Conferences:</strong></p><ul><li>Swift Heroes (8–9 April): <a href="https://daringfireball.net/2025/03/apple_is_delaying_the_more_personalized_siri_apple_intelligence_features">https://swiftheroes.com/2025/</a></li><li>try! <p>Apparently, the secret to a great coding presentation is three Es. You’ll just have to listen to discover if this means Paul is advocating for consuming Class A drugs to get hyped or if they just, like, stand for something inspiring or something. Developers, developers, developers…</p><p>Plus, as well as your traditional rundown of the news and upcoming conferences, this episode has excellent advice from Mikaela and from our wonderful community of Swift Over Coffee listeners on how to deal with imposter syndrome. Well, it’s quite good advice. Decent, at least.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Essential links from the episode:</strong></p><ul> <li>Open Source Swift Build: <a href="https://www.swift.org/blog/the-next-chapter-in-swift-build-technologies/"><u>https://www.swift.org/blog/the-next-chapter-in-swift-build-technologies/</u></a></li> <li>Updated VSCode extension: <a href="https://www.swift.org/blog/vscode-swift-2/"><u>https://www.swift.org/blog/vscode-swift-2/</u></a></li> <li>Swift on Android Working Group <a href="https://forums.swift.org/t/swift-on-android-working-group/77780"><u>https://forums.swift.org/t/swift-on-android-working-group/77780</u></a><br></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Conferences:</strong></p><ul> <li>Let’s Vision: Shanghai (1–2 March): <a href="https://letsvision.swiftgg.team">https://letsvision.swiftgg.team</a></li> <li>ARCtic conference (11–13 March): <a href="https://arcticonference.com">https://arcticonference.com</a></li> <li>try! <p>In this episode, we learn that the app that paid for Paul’s house hasn’t even been updated for iPhone X 😶🌫️ and Mikaela learns about some useful tools to help with the launch of the app that she absolutely, definitely, 100% is gonna debut in February. 😅 (Pretty sure she meant of 2025, but Paul neglected to press her on this point.)</p> <p>Plus, time is running out for EU trader status compliance (and some tips about keeping your personal phone number private), a big change to Swift, all the upcoming conferences (where, you know, Mikaela’s app would be incredibly useful…) and we turn the spotlight on some of the brilliant apps the Swift Over Coffee listeners are making.</p> <p><strong>Essential links from the episode:</strong></p> <ul> <li>EU Trader Status: <a href=" https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=yfacfeal" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=yfacfeal</a></li> <li>Last expression as return value: <a href="https://forums.swift.org/t/pitch-last-expression-as-return-value/76958" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://forums.swift.org/t/pitch-last-expression-as-return-value/76958</a></li> <li>Apple launched the Advanced Commerce API: <a href="https://www.revenuecat.com/blog/growth/what-you-need-to-know-apples-advanced-commerce-api/" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://www.revenuecat.com/blog/growth/what-you-need-to-know-apples-advanced-commerce-api/</a></li> <li>Swift Student Challenge: <a href="https://developer.apple.com/swift-student-challenge/" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://developer.apple.com/swift-student-challenge/</a></li> <li>FOSDEM: <a href="https://fosdem.org/2025/" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://fosdem.org/2025/</a></li> </ul> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>Conferences:</strong></p> <ul> <li>FOSDEM, Swift Dev Room (1–2 Feb): <a href="https://fosdem.org/2025/" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://fosdem.org/2025/</a> </li> <li>Let's vision: Shanghai (1–2 March): <a href="https://letsvision.swiftgg.team" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://letsvision.swiftgg.team</a></li> <li>ARCtic conference (11–13 March): <a href="https://arcticonference.com" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">https://arcticonference.com</a></li> <li>try!
