In an almost identical, family-friendly pop culture - video game nostalgia whirlwind not unlike last year’s Five Nights at Freddy’s (also based on a beloved video game), Minecraft arrives in theatres with its built in fanbase and much to the delight of kids everywhere. This satire horror film - Think “My Little Pony” only “My Deathkill Pony” - is quite unique in its extremes, especially for a first time filmmaker. Loaded with a great cast - Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Richard E. Grant - is this “unicorn” of a movie (see what I did there?) watch-worthy with its “out of the box” surprising gore and shocks and absurdist comedy styling or will it polarize audiences and even our hosts?
