We’re back, baby! And we are ready to yap.

It’s been a hot minute between episodes—life happened! The birth of my second daughter, soaking up family time, and navigating the return to work all took priority. But now, with the incredible Think Loud Studios as our recording home, we’re back with fortnightly episodes covering everything that makes you go “YEAH THE GALS!”

To kick things off, I invited my best friend Lozza (great name, BTW) to help me put into words why I started this poddy—the what, where, why, and what’s next.

Can confirm I am not a great interviewee… turns out, the comfort lies in the facilitator seat. Lol. But, as best friends do, Lozza sat there graciously while I talked the back legs off a donkey.

So much to come, so much to share—thank you for being here, gals!

LET’S GET INTO IT!! 🎙✨

🎥 You can watch us on YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@yeahthegalspodcast

📲 Find us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/yeahthegalspodcast/

In today's episode, I was joined virtually by the wonderful Dr. Kelly, Owner & Founder of Coastal Goddess and a passionate advocate for women's health.

Starting her career as a Radiographer and Sonographer, Dr. Kelly decided she wanted to do more than just diagnose patients. So, in her 30s, she took the plunge and completed her Bachelor of Medicine, all while juggling 4-year-old twins.

She then chose to complete her specialty training in Radiation Oncology, but after 3 years, and for a number of reasons both personally and within the work culture of the hospital at the time, she made the difficult decision to walk away.

Despite feeling in some ways like she had failed, it was her strong sense of self that allowed her to step away from an environment that was not right for her and instead pursue something she was truly passionate about.

So, after working for a few years as a surgical assistant, she reassessed and made a total pivot, opening Coastal Goddess, a women's health clinic created to offer cosmetic and intimate health treatments.

She became dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and down-to-earth space for women to feel empowered and confident.

In addition to running her clinic and continuing to work in the hospital, Dr. Kelly became actively involved in fundraising for WomenCan, a charity that supports research and treatment for gynaecological cancers.

Call it a crazy coincidence, but just over 12 months ago, Dr. Kelly found herself reading her own results from a routine screening test, which showed she was one of the 18 women diagnosed with cervical cancer each day. This put her in the seat of the patients she had been supporting, as well as the charity she had spent the last few years fundraising for.

Safe to say, it has been a rollercoaster few years for Dr. Kelly—from opening her own business, dedicating her time to fundraising, her own personal diagnosis, and everything else in between. But one thing that is at the center of it all is her dedication to women's health, confidence, and empowerment—something to be very much admired!

Thank you so much for coming on to share your story, Dr. Kelly, and everything you do in the community. It was such a pleasure to chat with you.
