Wir erzählen euch wann gehörlose Kinder erstmals in Gebärdensprache unterrichtet wurden, warum das später verboten wurde und wie der Stand heute ist. Wir berichten über eine Schule in Erfurt, in der bilingual, also in Deutsch und in Gebärdensprache gleichzeitig unterrichtet wird. Und wir fordern, dass Gebärdensprache an allen Schulen ein ganz normales Unterrichtsfach wird – so wie Englisch.

Malala, das mutige Mädchen
Malala lebt in Pakistan. Sie liebt ihr Tal und sie liebt es, zu immer neue Dinge zu lernen. Doch für Mädchen wird es immer gefährlicher in die Schule zu gehen, denn die Taliban möchten, dass Mädchen zur Hause bleiben. Malala und ihr Vater sind mutig und protestieren dagegen. Bis eines Tages etwas Schlimmes passiert.

Brehanesh erlebt ein Wunder
Als Kind verstand sie niemanden und konnte nicht mit anderen Kindern spielen. Das gehörlose Mädchen Brehanesh aus Äthiopien ist so traurig bis ein Wunder geschieht: Sie kommt an eine Schule, in der alle Kinder und Erwachsene die Gebärdensprache sprechen. Sie lernt die neue Sprache und ist glücklich. Heute ist sie selbst Lehrerin und freut sich, Kinder in Gebärdensprache zu unterrichten.
