by Mariela De La Mora | Leadership and Business Coach for Women of Color
Welcome to Cycle Breakers & Money Makers - a podcast for daughters of immigrants and WOC who are breaking cycles in their family by going places no one before them has gone. Join me, Mariela De La Mora, as we dive deep into what our community needs to break free from operating in survival mode, to lead with confidence and make more money doing it. Each week, we will dive into business, mindset and leadership coaching that is focused on the lived experiences of First Gen. Because let's be real - daughters of immigrants need to be coached differently. As the eldest daughter of immigrants, I have personally broken cycles and helped over 100 women do the same. I left a 16 year career as a Marketing Executive where I was the only WOC in the space, to now coaching 6-7 figure CEOs and high ranking women at organizations like Google, Microsoft and the United Nations. Using the tools I teach, I've since built close to a million-dollar business as a single mom. What would the world be like if more First Gen women lived life at the top of Maslows hierarchy of needs? With each episode, I hope to move closer to that reality. We’ll cover topics that will help you become an unstoppable, badass, money-making leader who knows her worth and has the receipts to show for it.

Sometimes you’re not not trying… you’re just not solving the right problem.

In this solo episode, I talk about what to do when you feel like you’ve been doing “all the things” in your business but it’s still not working. You’ll hear me share a voice-note-born analogy (yes, this one’s about plants 🌿) that helped one of my private clients finally see why her sales had slowed—even though it looked like she was showing up.

We dive into:

The difference between sitting in a problem and actively solving it

Why “changing your offer again” might be distracting you from the real issue

The invisible ways you might be capping your demand, energy, and client capacity

And why having someone else diagnose the real issue with you is the most loving thing you can do for your business

I also share a transparent look at how I support my clients through this—whether that’s through 6-month private coaching or month-to-month Telegram coaching for $700.

This episode is a permission slip to stop over-efforting, stop fidgeting with your offer, and start solving the real problem.

🎧 Tune in and let me know what lands for you.
Let’s be real: we’re under Trump again.

We’re over a year into witnessing a genocide in Palestine.

And between layoffs, ICE raids, and DEI being gutted—so many of us are navigating business while grieving, angry, and uncertain about what’s next.

If you’re asking yourself:

“What’s actually worth my time, energy, and money?”

This episode is for you.

I recorded this on day 3 of a sick kid at home while reflecting on what I’d do differently (and the same) if I were restarting my business in 2025.

Because while the world has changed, business hasn’t stopped. It’s just asking more of us—especially those of us with marginalized identities.

Inside the episode:

✔️ What I’d double down on from when I started my brand in 2019

✔️ Mistakes I made and what I’d shift if I were starting over

✔️ Why people are slower to invest (but still buying)

✔️ How to lead authentically in heavy times

✔️ What’s actually working in mentorship and visibility

This isn’t a “just post through it” pep talk.

It’s an honest look at what it means to grow with intention and strategy—without bypassing what’s real.

🎧 Listen now to learn how to make your next moves with clarity, not chaos.

And if you want support to clarify your brand, messaging, and demand strategy in a way that honors your life and your leadership—I have private coaching spots opening in May.

🌐 Apply at www.marieladelamora.com

📲 Or DM me on Instagram @mariela.delamora

Let’s build a business that holds you, too.

How I Landed a Forbes Feature (Without PR Connections) & How You Can Too

Getting featured in Forbes, or any major media platform, isn’t just for multimillionaires or people with PR teams. You already have everything you need to be seen as a thought leader—right now.

You don’t need media features to be credible. But let’s be real—representation matters. When our communities see us sharing our expertise in spaces that weren’t built for us, it changes the game. It means something.

So why not you?

I promise you, the voices you hear most often in the media are not necessarily the smartest ones. If you’re a marginalized person, chances are you had to be overqualified to get to where you are. You already have more than what it takes.

And the benefits of being featured? Third-party credibility, backlinks to your website, and elevated trust in your brand.

In this episode, I’m breaking down:

✔️ The exact pitch I sent that landed me a Forbes feature out of 33 applicants

✔️ How I used Instagram to put my name top of mind for the journalist

✔️ Lessons from my startup days that helped me get featured in Marie Claire

✔️ The biggest mistakes people make when pitching the media (and what to do instead)

✔️ Why your personal story is your most valuable PR asset—and how to position it so journalists want to feature you

✔️ Actionable steps you can take today to increase your visibility and attract media features

If you’ve ever wanted to get featured in media, land speaking opportunities, or position yourself as a thought leader—without spending thousands on PR agencies—this episode will give you the exact steps to make it happen.

Because when we learn how to create our own opportunities, we reclaim our power.

And if you’re ready to refine your thought leadership, attract more visibility, and get featured in the spaces that elevate your brand, we can work on this together.

My month-to-month Telegram coaching for $700 is the best way to get hands-on support with your messaging, PR strategy, and demand-building.

Send me a DM on Instagram at mariela.delamora learn more!
