At the centre was thirty-seven year old Senator Ted Kennedy, the youngest of the Kennedy siblings and twenty-eight-year old Mary Jo Kopeckne. <p>June 6, 1968, at the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles a jubilant Robert Francis Kennedy spoke of winning the Presidential nomination in California. To a throng of media, members of the Democratic party and supporters, he said “My thanks to all of you and now it’s on to Chicago and let’s win there, thank you very much”.</p><p>He gave a peace sign and then brushed his hair back off his face.
