Martin Butcher, he simply loves running. Martin will have a go at any distance from 5k to 96 miles...and he does. Martin describes himself as a lucky runner who has got to do so many things through running.

Martins interest in running started as a result of a venture scouts trip of a lifetime to climb Mount Aconcagua (22,838 ft) in Argentina in the year 2000, and the fitness bug was caught.

From Argentina to the Dunfermline half marathon in 2003 and the running journey continued from there to the present day.

A massive part of Martins running journey is the connections and friends Martin has made. It's no surprise that Martin is a founding member of #teamlife

We speak a lot about the West Highland Way during the chat, Martin has a deep love for that specific Scottish trail, but he will also happily run a mile in 4mins 52 10 days after running 53 miles!

Supporting others who run is another passion of Martins, and he quite happily drives back and forth between checkpoints making sure his runner (and others) is fuelled and ready to go for the next section of the event.

Martin describes his favourite event as the West Highland Way of 2023, and it's an edge of the seat listen as he describes the highs, lows and occasional diva moment along the way!

Favourite film and book for Martin...Forrest Gump is the answer to both, maybe Forrest inspired the world famous Butcher Sprint, all is described by the man himself in this episode.

A well kent face on the Scottish running scene, Martin is never shy to share a smile, a cuddle and words of encouragement to anyone who might benefit from one or all three.

Inspirational too in so many ways for friends, family and people he may never even know. Martin is there for ya!

An example...Paul Snelling Martin's cousin caught the bug after seeing what Martin was up to, and Paul is in the middle of running 31 marathons in 31 days raising funds for Zurich Community Trust. Fundraising link if you want to donate

Did we mention Portsmouth FC ?

This episode will give you all the good vibes...enjoy

#teamlife #gooniesneversaydie

Turning Japanese season finale? Damn right it is. And this week on the show, it's a reunion!Last week we got the full debrief from Stevie Boy. This week it's time for him to pose the questions as he sits down with his Tokyo travelling pals, Derek Martin and Paul Stoddart. Was Steven talking crap about the bogs? Was he havering pish about the egg sandos? Was marathon day even really that warm? Derek and Paul fact check it all.We hear from the candid duo all about their own time in Japan. Like Steven, both were making a first visit to the country, a light hearted look at the insights, observations and thoughts ensues. Even their personal marathon day race experiences are covered in reasonable detail! With one of them also completing their 6 Star World Marathon Major quest and the other edging towards completion we cover their own global trek to collect the stars. We finish up finding out what lies ahead for Cumbernauld Amateur Athletics Club's intrepid pair. And on that note we conclude Season 12. We've fair clocked up the air miles and in Season 13 we best go some way to off-setting that, right? Pit yir seatbelts on we'll be back in a jiffy. Sayonara....for now.
